Urban Cemetery

A Parking Garage

for Dead People

Due to their high real-estate value, Milwaukee’s Reed Street Yards are a horrible location for an urban cemetery.  The Elysian Village resolves this problem by taking the form of a space-efficient parking garage.

In the early stages of development, the Village serves as a giant mausoleum, with interment taking place in its concrete structure.  Occupiable glass insertions accommodate funerary services and can be converted into retail and residential space after the bereaved have died themselves.
