Tree in a Box
Sited in Lower Manhattan at the corner of Essex and Delancey Streets, this multi-use building acknowledges its timber structure through its resemblance to a tree inside of a box. The box accomodates residential space on the upper levels and a public market on the ground and lower levels.
The tree contains the Andy Warhol museum. Its branches protrude through the box giving views to the exterior and providing space for two auxiliary galleries and an auditorium.
