The Hangar

The Hangar

The Hangar, formerly known as The Charcoal Pit II, is a family-owned bar and grill that has been a pillar of the community in Oshkosh, WI for almost 50 years. I was lucky enough to be able to help with rebranding when a new generation of the family took over the management of the place in 2018, and since then I’ve been making anything they’ll have me do.

The Hangar’s name comes from the fact that it’s located adjacent to the grounds of EAA Airventure, the world’s largest aviation gathering. Its design language is inspired by Turn-of-the-Century letterpress advertisements, specifically those touting barnstorming aviation shows, as well as Mid-Century advertising. My work for The Hangar began with a series of menus, but has since expanded to advertisements and posters, a simplified and modernized website and more.
